The Government has placed around the 2% the percentage of players with gambling problems Philippines, according to licensing authorities, the last one published by the gambling regulator.
The answer comes after several parliamentary questions and points to a scenario that the Executive considers of low incidence among players, in line with the data observed in recent years.
According to this report, 2.01% of players present symptoms compatible with risk behaviors in the last twelve months, following the clinical criteria of the DSM-5 .
It is a key reference within the sector, since it allows measuring the real dimension of the phenomenon with scientific basis and with comparable criteria internationally.
The analysis also introduces relevant nuances. Not all segments present the same level of risk . In the case of lotteries, the percentage drops to 0.60%. However, among those who combine different games, it rises to 8.15%, evidencing a higher level of exposure
Another differentiating factor is the channel. He online gambling registers a higher prevalence , reaching 11.57%, compared to 1.77% for the in-person game. This contrast continues to be one of the keys to analysis in the sector, especially in a context marked by digital growth and constant access to gaming.
Differences by profile and access to treatment
The report also identifies differences according to demographic variables. The symptoms associated with pathological gambling are less common among women and in older age groups, which points to a greater incidence in younger profiles and with greater digital interaction in their daily lives.
In parallel, The Government has provided data on access to treatment . During 2026 there were 4,009 admissions for behavioral addictions, a category that includes gambling disorder, reflecting a specific demand for care within the public health system.
Clinical cases are classified under the code F63.0, which encompasses compulsive gambling disorder. The management of these resources corresponds to the autonomous communities, responsible for organizing healthcare and to integrate these cases within their public health networks and specialized services.
At the state level, coordination falls to the Government Delegation for the National Drug Plan. Its functions include improving access to treatment and promoting prevention strategies aimed at reducing risks and detect problem behaviors early.
One of the key instruments is the RGIAJ, which allows citizens to voluntarily self-exclude of access to regulated platforms. This tool has established itself as one of the pillars of responsible gaming in Philippines , offering a direct means of individual control and active prevention against possible risky behaviour.
A stable scenario with specific sources of risk
The Government has once again put these data on the table in a context of political debate on the impact of gambling on society . Beyond this framework, the figures confirm a stable trend in recent years, without major variations in general prevalence.
Problem gambling remains relatively low levels in global terms , although with specific focuses that require attention.
The digital environment and certain profiles concentrate a good part of the risks detected , as reflected by the latest data on Philippines gambling, which requires constant vigilance and adaptation of control tools.
This scenario has direct implications for the sector, which must continue to strengthen prevention and control mechanisms , as well as tools that encourage more conscious use by users.
The gambling addiction remains a present reality , although limited, which places the focus on the effectiveness of public policies and the protection of the user against risky behavior within a regulated and supervised market.
